Media Invite and public statement by the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Siboniso Duma

Richards Bay: We are extending an invitation to the members of the media to come and witness the historic completion of a pipeline from Wilmar Palm Oil Refinery Plant to the Port.

We consider ourselves very privileged to be the host of the world’s largest palm oil refinery producer and trader.

This global food processing giant in our Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone will be supplying the world’s major brands such as Unilever, Nestle, Colgate-Palmolive, PepsiCo,

Kellogg’s and many others in various countries.

The media tour of this strategic national asset will enable journalists to have a glimpse of the milestones achieved.

And in addition, it will allow the media to know more about opportunities in the entire value chain of agriculture and agro-processing.

The media tour is scheduled as follows:-

Date : 25 April 2024

Time : 09h00

Venue : Phase 1A Estate, Richards Bay IDZ

In particular, we value the support of President Cyril Ramaphosa through the Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Nomalungelo Gina.

She has been representing the national government throughout the construction phases of this project which will change the face of KwaZulu-Natal for many years to come.

Ends
