The Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone to host the Women in Trade & Investment Webinar
The RBIDZ will host its first Trade and Investment webinar engagement with women across the business fraternity to device strategies that will encourage greater female participation in the field of domestic and foreign direct investments on the 28th August 2020. The theme of the session draws inspiration from the International Women's Day 2020 theme - "I am Generation Equality”.
The webinar aims to provide a platform to raise public awareness on the specific issues faced by women within the Trade and Investment sector. "For the province of KwaZulu-Natal to have lively SEZs and competitive regional economies, it is essential to engage in interchanges among key stakeholders such as this webinar session. The SEZ programme was specifically developed to promote the creation of a regionally expanded industrial economy by establishing industrial parks in underdeveloped regions of our country.
It is therefore commanding to bring together representatives from all spheres of business, among them will be both local and international experts; representing Impact Zones, Ms. Zoe Harries, Ms. Nelly Shezi of Elegant Afroline one of the RBIDZ investors, academia represented by Dr Nana Vezi-Magigaba and others to share perspectives and expertise on investment strategies, domestic and foreign direct investments, women in construction as well as the economic outlook critically during this time of battered economy demanding re-positioning of recovery strategies.
Critically, great strides have been made since the Women’s march in August 1956 to improve the status of women in South Africa, however women in the business fraternity still face a number of challenges including gender inequality. Female emancipation in both the economic and social sphere have seen increased efforts to fight women empowerment. Women own close to 10 million of the world’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Whilst the figure is still relatively low, Small Business Trends survey indicate a constant increase in the number of female owned enterprises.
The invitation is extended to women in business. Members of the MEDIA are also invited to join in the Webinar session by sending their RSVPs to @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
