THE RICHARDS BAY IDZ CONTINUES TO PRIORITISE EDUCATION THROUGH VARIOUS INITIATIVES

The Richards Bay IDZ recently ensured that learners from 7 schools around Nseleni, Ward 6 benefit from its Back to School programme. The day of jubilation was made possible by the City of UMhlathuze Municipality’s, Councillor Ndimande who took it upon his stride to ensure that the learners be equipped with the basic school necessities; critically during this time of winter season where walking barefooted can be unbearable.

Mandela Day celebrated in the world by many always remind us of the acts of kindness that we practise every day however on this special day all nations take a pause and dedicate time and efforts to various activities in respect of Tata Mandela. This is made significant by the fact that July is the birth month of a big man himself.

Afore the commemoration of June 16; which is marked nationally as a public holiday set to honour the 1976 fallen heroes and heroines who surrendered their lives fighting for human rights; significantly that of education and freedom of expression, the RBIDZ mobilised its employees and visited the rural KwaBiyela reserve for a Youth Day Pre-activation intended to motivate learners from Kwelentaba Primary school and further hand out schooling basics such as backpacks, stationery, uniform and school shoes to a number of learners.

RBIDZ STUDENTS CORNER WITH XOLILE MBAMBO Xolile Mbambo is a feisty 18-year-old, who is full of life and potential. Raised by a Christian fam-ily, she has always been a humble girl who lived by the teachings of her elders and proved to be a visionary at a tender age being involved in sustainable school projects and recognised for her outstanding academic and leadership qualities.

Giving is not something that we talk about often, too many of us are focused on the ‘struggle’ of our daily lives to even think of giving back, more especially to those less privileged. To date, the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone has made potent efforts to contribute towards the betterment of surrounding communities; by reaching out to those less fortunate and being proactive in community outreach programmes in collaboration with other stakeholders.

In the rural area of Mbongolwane which is in the outskirts of Eshowe, more than fifty (50) learners from Dumazinkani Primary School still faced the cold weathers without shoes.
